Zara Itani is a perpetual fan favorite in the Double Helix series. The shoot-first-think-later assassin scorns everything that Danyael Sabre, the alpha empath embodies, yet she falls in love with him. For anyone who ever wanted to know what she sees in him, this book is for you.
Selecting the model for Zara was tough. I wanted the image to encompass her Lebanese-Venezuelan background and her distinctive violet eyes. I also wanted the cover to be thematically similar to the Miriya cover. My designer, Sheenah, came up with this image that includes the ruins of Baalbek in Lebanon, where some of the key scenes take place. It also hearkens back to a place in Zara’s past, a place of painful memories.
I think this cover captures a great deal of what Zara is–beautiful and exotic–and if you look at her eyes, you see a faint hint of how dangerous she can be. She also looks a little pensive, and in this novel, she’s at the crossroads on her feelings over Danyael. She’s coming to terms with the woman she will be if she allows herself to love someone as vulnerable and as powerful as Danyael. I really enjoyed Zara, and I hope you will too.
