When the Silence Ends takes readers away from the core drama of Double Helix series and shifts the spotlight to two junior cast members–Dee and Dum (yes, named after TweedleDee and TweedleDum.) Fraternal twins, Dee talks too much and Dum doesn’t talk at all.
The premise is simple. Dee wants to help her brother talk again. Of course, nothing in any of my novels is ever simple. 🙂 Music, however, is the key; hence the music themed cover.
When the Silence Ends is one of my favorite novels. The protagonists are young adults, but the challenges they face are real-world every day problems that we face in our quest for a better life, including socio-political issues, economic challenges, and (because this is a Double Helix novel), genetic barriers. Yet, unlike the adults in the series, Dee doesn’t solve her problems with loaded guns or sinister schemes. In her quest to help her brother become normal, Dee will learn what it means to be extraordinary.
This young adult novel has won awards and rave reviews from fans, so I hope you’ll take a break from the Double Helix series to check it out. It is also available in the Double Helix Collection.
